ABOUT WORKSHOP

In India, expansive soils are called as Black Cotton soil.  Most of these soils are black in colour and are good for growing Cotton. These type of soils having the tendency of swelling and shrinking. Civil engineers have to face major challenges to provide a proper foundation in these types of soils where thestructures can be prevented from the damages due to expansive behavior of soils. There are different techniques developed for foundation in this type of soil.

In the workshop different problems related to providing foundation in black cotton soil will be discussed by the experts and field demonstration of driving under reamed pile foundation will be explained. The participants will learn various quality control measures in providing foundation in black cotton soil.
