Power system:

It is a branch that deals the complex networks and helps in providing electrical energy efficiently from generation end to load end. Latest technologies in power systems like smart grid, open set of opportunities in future. Power system engineers have opportunities in power generation companies owned by government, L&T, Tata power, GVK, Jindal power, Reliance power, Adani power, Schneider Electric Infrastructure, Suzlon energy etc in the field of generation and distribution whereas companies like ABB, Schneider, Havells, crompton greaves, L&T which manufacture power system components like Switch gear, alternators, wind generators, transformers etc, where they need power systems engineers to design, analyze and test them . Softwares like PSCAD, Matlab need power systems engineers to test , develop and design their projects.

Power Electronics:

Maximum harnessing of generated electricity from conventional & renewable energy sources has been done by optimized utilization of power electronics devices Now a days transmission system opt Flexible Ac transmission devices (FACTS), HVDC technology based on power electronics concept for efficient and controlled transmission of power. Power electronics engineers have the job opportunities in companies like Texas instruments, analog devices, Semikron, Hitachi and Delphi etc, for designing, manufacturing, analyzing and testing  power semiconductors  whereas some software tool companies like MATLAB, Power sim that use power electronics expertise to develop their products. Electronic appliances, gadgets have miniature power electronic technology like dc-dc converters embedded. So they need power electronics personnel. eg. Laptop manufacturers, Mobile phone manufacturers. Research is also going on in the field of power Electronics.
The admissions in Engineering or the B. Tech. course are done on the basis of candidates’ score in the JEE Main exam which is conducted at All India Level.   The exam was introduced in the year of 2013 under the “One-Nation-One-Test” norm of HRD Ministry.
